Beschreibung

Today, we present to you a historical gem from the Italian sports automobile industry: the 1972 Alfa Romeo Montreal. This car, designed by legends, is destined to remain legendary throughout its existence. It is a Swiss vehicle, originally delivered with this exact paint and interior in Agno, near Lugano. With just over 70,000 km, this car, now exactly 51 years old, has been enjoyed and cherished, with all these efforts reflected in its current condition more than half a century later! The color really makes the car stand out, although preferences vary—some prefer orange, others lime, and so forth. However, this lime green unmistakably screams 1970s Italian style. The fantastic V8 engine, derived directly from the Tipo 33 race car, has been detuned to 200 hp but remains plentifully enjoyable and, importantly, much more robust and reliable than its racing counterpart.

The bodywork, designed by Marcello Gandini, was striking from the first moment it appeared at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970, as is typical of any of his designs. If you look closer, a profile view of the middle section strikingly resembles that of the Miura. Coupled with this mechanical marvel, the suspension setup, though seemingly simple on paper, was effective. At the front, it was equipped with coil springs, wishbones, dampers, and an anti-roll bar, while at the rear, it featured a simple live axle with coil springs, dampers, and an A-bracket. Despite lacking the benefits of independent rear suspension, this setup allowed for sharp cornering as well as great ride quality for long cross-country trips. The engine is, in fact, a very supple unit, equally at home at low revs as at its peak.
As Autocar wrote at the time, "The Montreal is the sort of car that grows to fit you, not the sort one takes to immediately."
Price-wise, it was slightly less expensive than the Dino 236 GT but twice the price of a Jaguar E-Type, as well as a Triumph Stag.

All in all, the Alfa Romeo Montreal is the quintessential GT car from Alfa Romeo and one of the Italian greats.

Financing/Leasing possible.
